Breast-Feeding Cut Risk of Diabetes

Nursing moms may be protecting themselves against diabetes later in life, say scientists. Breast- feeding for just one month can halve the risk of pre-diabetes, a condition that often leads to full-blown diabetes and heart disease, reports the  journal Diabetes. A study of 704 women found that gals who breast-fed had healthier levels of blood fats and glucose than those who bottle-fed, lowering the threat of diabetes by up to 56 percent.
