Spirulina, A weapon against Heart Disease

A study conducted by Mexican researchers showed that 4.5 grams of spirulina consumed daily significantly dropped total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and improved “good” HDL cholesterol production in study participants.
Also, their blood pressure levels were reduced almost instantly after consuming this wonder plant!
Another, animal study revealed that spirulina was able to prevent rats fed with a high-fructose diet from developing high blood pressure and vasoconstriction.
Interestingly, rats that were not supplemented with spirulina were not able to avoid high blood pressure and other vascular-related conditions when fed with the unhealthy high-fructose diet.
Numerous other human studies have shown that spirulina has the ability to significantly lower the risks of Alzheimer’s, arthritis, stroke, heart attack and other cardiovascular disease.
If that wasn’t enough, the list of spirulina’s health benefits is by far not finished…
It is correlated with decreases in the occurrence of cancer, glaucoma, erectile dysfunction, obesity, pulmonary fibrosis, neurodegenerative disorders (such as Parkinson’s), kidney failure, liver inflammation, anemia, and even HIV-related immune disorders.
Spirulina supplements are easily found in health food stores and most drug stores across the globe.

Spirulina, A weapon against Type 2 Diabetes

The study conducted by Indian researchers from MS University of Baroda revealed that spirulina supplements effectively improved blood sugar and lipid profiles in type 2 diabetes patients.
Twenty-five study participants were randomly instructed to consume 2 grams of spirulina daily for a two-month period of time.
The results of the study revealed a significant reduction in fasting blood glucose levels and lowered glycosylated hemoglobin levels (Hba1c) in study participants who consumed spirulina, compared to the ones that didn’t in the placebo group.

• The berry does wonders to improve vision health and tired eyes;
• Blueberries contain powerful compounds that prevent urinary tract infections;
• Regular consumption of blueberries drastically improves gut health by promoting good bacteria;
• A great amount of research showed that chemicals found in wild blueberries are able to inhibit and prevent the growth of cancer cells, even the particularly aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).
• Due to an impressive amount of antioxidants, there is no better way to fight the disease and improve the immune system than a handful of blueberries every day.

Blueberries, A Weapon against Numerous Health Conditions Part 2

3. Type 2 Diabetes
Myriad scientific studies have proven an impressive anti-diabetic effect of a blueberry-rich diet.
A recent study, however, conducted by scientists of Pennington Biomedical Research center at Louisiana State University, brought into light that daily consumption of blueberries drastically reduced the risks for type 2 diabetes.
Blueberries contain important bioactive substances that help improve insulin sensitivity, an essential factor for type 2 Diabetes prevention.
4. Brain decline
An impressive amount of evidence has been mounting in the last decade supporting the amazingly beneficial effects of blueberries in the diet on brain aging.
Tuffs University researchers report that a regular consumption of this magical berry reverses short-term memory loss and improves motor skills.
Anthocyanins found in blueberries are shown to improve neural signaling in brain centers.
According to the researchers, this tiny berry shows promising results when fighting degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer’s.
5. Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is characterized as a combination of health disorders including high cholesterol, blood pressure, impaired glucose tolerance and obesity.
Metabolic syndrome is responsible for increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases like stroke, heart attack and type 2 diabetes.
Researchers from North Carolina State University discovered that phytochemicals found in blueberries improved hyperglycemia, a condition related to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
