Vitamin D3, A Weapon in preventig Breast Cancer

·        Vitamin D3 has been getting some bad press lately.
·        Headlines making the rounds on mainstream news sites have been misleading at best. Some have directly contradicted the results of the studies they discuss.
·        Take this recent example. One outlet’s headline read that supplementing with this vitamin “may not be worth it.” The story went on to say that the study in question found no significant decrease in risk of death from cancer when taking D. But that’s not the whole story.
·        Not even close.
·        The study actually shows that this vitamin is a potent cancer fighter. Supplementing with it reduces your overall risk for cancer by as much as 15 percent. And when it comes to avoiding breast cancer, this is the most important vitamin you can take.
·        It reduces breast cancer risk by over 50 percent.
·        If you are familiar with Health Watch, you know we are big fans of vitamin D3… and for good reason. It’s a hormonal precursor that helps your body produce and maintain a proper balance of hormones. This is critical to fighting breast cancer.
·        Breast tissue cells have receptors that are in place specifically to absorb vitamin D3. It helps breast cells divide and replicate normally. Having enough of it stops cancer cells from growing in the first place. In the event you do begin to develop breast cancer, D3 stops it from spreading to other parts of your body. The best part is that you determine how effective this vitamin is.
·        The more you take, the lower your risk.
·        You can get a 1,000 IU serving D3 supplement at most health food stores and online. Make sure that it comes from natural, whole food sources. Speaking of foods, your best bet for eating more vitamin D3 is fatty fish like wild caught salmon. A single 4 oz. serving provides you with over 500 IU of D3.
·        Don’t let the headlines tell you otherwise. Vitamin D3 is one of the most important supplements you can take for avoiding breast cancer.
