Natural Remedies for Chronic Allergies

There are a number of supplements and nutraceuticals that can reduce allergic reactions. Most important are quercetin, curcumin, vitamin D3, omega-3 oils (especially DHA), vitamin C and magnesium. All are known to reduce inflammation and some reduce the release of histamine and other harmful chemicals from mast cells.

Vitamin D3, in a dose of 5,000 IU a day, reduces immune over-reactivity, and vitamin C is an anti-inflammatory and reduces mast-cell activity.

Maintaining your gut probiotics also protects you against immune over-activity. Ellagic acid and ferulic acid (antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables) reduce inflammation as well.

Watermelon for ED issue

ED is no fun. Literally.
But maybe there is a simple way to take charge of your manhood again.
A way that doesn’t rely on medication, but instead on a pretty tasty fruit.
In a recently published article in Urology, researchers from University of Foggia in Italy have identified the benefit of watermelon in treating erectile dysfunction. More specifically, the active ingredient in watermelon, L-citrulline, is thought to be responsible for the benefits.
For the study, 24 men were chosen as volunteers with a mean age of 57. In a score range of 0 to 4, where 0 stands for no enlargement of penis and 4 stands for complete and rigid penis, the volunteers had an erection hardness score (EHS) of 3.
For the first month, the volunteers were given a placebo and in the second month they were given L-Citrulline at a dosage of 1.5 grams per deciliter.
The participants were analyzed for data on frequency of intercourses, treatment satisfaction and adverse effects if any. The results were very significant with 50 percent of the men achieving an EHS score of 4 after taking the supplement. 12 of the 24 volunteers reported satisfaction after treatment as well as an increase in the frequency of intercourses.
L-citrulline which is found abundantly in watermelon is known to increase blood flow to the penis similar to Viagra or L-arginine but without the side effects like headaches, nausea, and diarrhea.
Relish a slice of cold watermelon or drink the juice to improve your sexual life and drive away erectile dysfunction. Just like that.

Red Wine for the Health Benefits of Kidneys & Overall Cardiovascular Health

A new study has proven this drink to be extremely beneficial to both kidneys and overall cardiovascular health. It’s been repeatedly proven to lower blood pressure and help prevent stroke and heart attack.
The research, the team in University of Colorado-Denver collected data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination survey for the period of 2003 to 2006.
Of the 5852 participants analyzed, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease was significantly lower in those who consumed at least one glass of wine a day, compared to non-wine-drinkers.
Taking this a step further, among the 1031 participants who already had chronic kidney disease, drinking at least one glass of wine a day seemed to protect them from the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Since kidney diseases and heart diseases share common risk factors, patients with kidney diseases who drink a moderate amount of wine can possible keep heart diseases abbey.
This research study by no means suggests that non-drinkers suffering from kidney disease should start drinking wine as medicine. And you should limit yourself to 1-2 glasses maximum. Anything more can cause more harm than good.
And again NO – drinking margarita or sipping a beer has not been shown to have any similar health benefits as wine.
And just to spoil the fun. Other studies have clearly proven that non-alcoholic wine is just as healthy – maybe even better – than regular wine.

Evening Primrose Oil for weak or brittle nails

Weak or brittle nails usually don't signal any serious medical problem. They are typically caused by excessive exposure to detergents and water. Over-filing and over-buffing nails can also weaken them. Many people report that taking supplemental gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) helps to strengthen nails, as well as improve skin conditions and promote the growth of healthy hair. This essential fatty acid is hard to come by in the diet, and the best natural sources are found in evening primrose oil and Black Currant Oil. It is recommended to use Evening Primrose Oil in doses of 500 mg twice a day (or follow the directions on the package) for six to eight weeks.

Capsaicin, A Weapon for most kind of pain

A derivative of chili peppers, capsaicin, which gives peppers their heat, soothes pain when applied to the skin. Studies have shown it to be helpful in relieving back pain as well as pain caused by arthritis, shingles, headaches, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, and diabetic neuropathy. In a study at Case Western Reserve University of Ohio, 80 percent of patients with arthritis reported a decrease in pain after using topical capsaicin for two weeks. A University of Toronto study found that capsaicin cream significantly reduced pain in patients with post-herpetic neuralgia nerve pain (persistent pain in some people who have had shingles). Two years later, 86 percent of patients reported it was still effective.
